We were lucky to have had a 5 day weekend break to celebrate Easter. My time was spent down in Canberra visiting my family.
Lucky for me most of the shops were not open so I could set to work on my quilt, 'Secret Garden'. I am using the fabric range Butterfly Fling to create the blocks.
It all began back in 2005when a studnet I taught gave me the pattern for my birthday. I loved the pattern and put it away for a rainy day.
In 2006/7 I began travelling one hour to be a part of a sewing group in a neighbouring town. I was taught how to needle turn in this group and completed one quilt.
In 2009 I decided that I needed to take out my Secret Garden pattern and use the range Butterfly Fling for the quilt. I again put the fabric aside.
In 2010 I decided it was now or never to begin this quilt. It became my monthly project. I only took it out when I travelled to the group. It took me 6 months to complete the first two blocks. Obviously I talked too much! Here is a picture of the first block, there will be 4 exactly the same colourings.
Just this past weekend I was able to nearly complete another block with only the centre flower and one circle to needle turn.
I was also able to cut out a fourth block which is ready to start.
Thank goodness for extra long weekends and the love of quilting.
Woot woot. Way to go....
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find more time to finish off my blocks as I love this quilt pattern.
