Travel

It had been a while since I went travelling for work.
Tomorrow morning I am off to Bourke, NSW. I am there for the night then home again on Tuesday. I am not takin any stitching with me I need to begin to read for my first assignment.

Tonight I have begun sewing wisteria!  Lots of French knots.

Might need to fill in some blank spaces but that is after I come back home.

Friday Night with Friends

Last night I joined everyone for Friday Night with Friends.

My goal was to cut the fabric for my bag.

This was completed quickly   Below is a sample of what the bag might end up looking like.

This is the fabric I have chosen for my bag. I am not doing the stitching for this bag I have fussy cut dollies. The grey fabric will be the gusset and handles and the plain purple fabric is the lining.

I also managed to do some hand stitching while catching up on some prerecorded shows. I finished sewing the appliqué for my cafe block and have begun the stitching of the windows.

Thanks Cheryll for hosting this event.

At the doctors....

My sewing machine had gone on a holiday for a week.

I am thinking my machine has a burr or something which cuts the thread.

So for the next week it is hand stitching for me. I am going to also prep my stitch a long August project ready to begin once the machine returns home.

So tonight I am working on GDO.
Last night I finished the pink and started the green.

Also tomorrow is Michelle Ridgeway's
Birthday. Michelle hosted a give away for her birthday and I can't believe I was picked.  Thank you Michelle!

Best wishes for you Happy birthday tomorrow!

Block 8

Florist all done.

Yes it is block 8 but have not finished the 8. Randomly picked up this prepared block to sew.

Love how it looks.

More stitching.

I have been working on my block 8 again today.

I am not up to block 8 but I prepared a few Blocks and picked up this one to start.
I am not sure of a colour so I hope to duck down to the shop tomorrow to buy it.

Tomorrow night I am heading out to a working dinner with principals from around our diocese, colleagues from education services and a guests speaker.

My girls are going to Carols for the night. They were meant to be going until I finished the dinner but the invitation of the girls staying the night was readily accepted.

I am hoping to give my Lace and Grace flimsy to Nat, who will take it back to Balranald to give to the gorgeous Ange to give to Geoff and Bev for custom quilting. When I get it back I will have buttons to stitch on as well as stick the binding down. Stay tuned for the reveal of this quilt.

Yes I know the bricks are going the wrong way I didn't check before I ironed it on. The fabric was long enough so I just did it.

It is for me so all is good!

Fingers are relieved

Thank goodness stitching the sign is over. Sewing through four fabric layers and three vliesofix layers is challenging.

Note to self Stitch words before appliquing!

Saturday, 27 April 2013

Great day to....

Pick up the girls after their holiday with my parents. I also went for a few days but they stayed longer.

Go for a look in the shops at Boorowa, the patchwork shop was closed. Probably a good thing!

Get together with a couple of ladies at Nellies Patchwork. Talia was home unpacking and Bridie went with her father for the night.

Cut up lots more flannel pieces for my quilt. I need 40 pieces for each 18inch block. I have cut all the 7 1/2, 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 inch lengths.

Spend the night at home alone. Talia ended sleeping going to her friends suppose two weeks away was long enough.

Start sewing my May Stitch a long project, organise some threads and work on my Girls Day Out blocks 2&3.

I am going to sew the green for this block tonight as I catch up with my recorded shows.

This is what was achieved.

Number 2 Pincushion finished - going into my birthday love stash

4 Christmas coasters finished - one Xmas item a month

Tracing of block 4 Girls Day Out

Pinning labels onto finished rice bags for school fete.

Hope I have enough ready for the coming weeks.

Girls Day Out Progress

Tonight I stitched the final stitch on block one.

I am very happy with how the block looks.

I am not going to be adding borders until all the hand sewing is complete.
The buttons will sewed on after the quilting I am thinking.
What does everyone else think?

I am hoping to prepare blocks two and three in the morning.

I do have to take a school uniform to Carol, I have been hemming it for her kindergarten daughter.

Today Bridie and I headed to Parkes for some girl time. Talia stayed home, she should have come!
We had breakfast at Bellas Cafe and Restaurant it was very nice ( but still not quite on par with Spoons. Should go there in the near future for breakfast!)

Had some rain today but not a lot, need more so I don't have to water my lawn. Another hot one expected tomorrow so good time to sit inside, and catch up on recorded shows.

Sewing again and proud daughter

Well I always get a call from Bridie when she gets home from school. I asked how her day went and she said two things good and one bad. What do you want first. I said bad!!!

Bad = Ok the grass out front is dead and covered in sand.

Good = the dead trees and branches were taken away.

Good = Bridie got five class dojo points, for good behaviour. Keeping on task and working hard.
Such a great start to the year. It is a shame her teacher will leave at the end of term or early term two as she is expecting. So far Bridie is awesome.

I am back sewing my Girls Day Out block. On to the appliqué. Woohoo.

Enjoyed the long weekend and filled the red garbage  bin again. This time cleaned Bridies room.
