Quilting has begun...

On this gorgeous quilt. Simple Stitches by Anni Downes.

So far the diagonals have been quilted as well as the small border inside and out. Loving it so far. ( wish my phone took better photos!)

Saturday I am quilting around and inside the squares and around the stitcheries. Fabric is all small dots.

This is the backing fabric.

Simple Pleasures

I have been working on this quilt for nearly one month and cannot believe how quick it has come together.  I started sewing the stitches when I first received the book from Nat for one of my birthdays.  I forgot the colour I was using and used a different colour and then I lost all motivation to complete it.

With a visit from Kylie and a sale at Nellie's my motivation was rekindled.

One of my simple pleasures is seeing the blocks all finished

organising them into the quilt arrangment seen here.

Joining them together to make the quilt top.

Sewing on the first border, triangles and final border.

I am so loving how this wall hanging is coming together.
Tomorrow I am going to complete all sides, I wanted to see how it was going to look so I completed one side for now.

Thank you Nat for giving me the pattern a few years ago when the pattern was release, thank you Kylie for visiting and thank you Nellie's for having a sale.

Until next time......

Playing around

Just seeing what the quilt is going to look like. Going to the honey factory and then might think about doing some serious sewing to put it together! Only gave to cut out the border triangles and final border.

Quilted top, 1/3 down and a sign up...

Back in 2006 I bought a quilt kit from a visiting Patchwork shop.  This shop each year would set up a display at our monthly gathering for all of us to admire and splurge!
I couldn't resist this quilt kit.

This was the first quilt I have created with such a 'challenging' block.  I was not too confident in doing it so I kept the kit aside so that I could complete it when I had Long Service Leave from primary teaching.  I took the final term off in 2008 and thought yes this was my time to make my Long Service Quilt.  Little did I know that also during this leave I would be packing up the house, children and myself and leaving Balranald for Forbes, NSW.

The quilt top was put together during the first part of my leave and put away in a box for quilting. My friend Wanda Taylor from Off Road Quilting has a quilting machine and I asked if she could quilt it for me, which she did and I am so happy with the result.  The quilting is not fancy it is an overall design of a flower.  Hope you can see some of the detail in the photo below. Sorry the photo looks like it is upside down.

Oops those corners don't really align.... lol

I have been stitching the designs for my Simple Pleasures quilt each night.

I have completed 4 out of the 12 and I am loving how they are coming together.Sorry about having to lay down to see the picture properly....

So excited to say that I remembered to sign up for the Santa Sack Swap hosted by Cheryll.  I am an even number so I think I am in.... I can't wait to meet my partner...

Now to make a list of things that could be put in the Santa Sack... all ideas welcome....

Until next time....

New fabrics....

Look at what I purchased today!

Just gorgeous fabrics from my local Patchwork Shop.  Just wish I didn't visit so often!  Not sure what I will uses these fabrics for but I am sure something will develop.

I also traced out my stitcheries for my Simple Pleasures quilt.  When I went in to the Patchwork Shop they lovely lady who helped my choose my fabric asked how the quilt was going.  Well to be honest it hasn't even started so this afternoon I sat down and traced out the designs.  I then chose the thread as I didn't have all the DMC colours I needed so I went off the colour eg Dark Brown, and chose a Dark Brown from my stash.

Tonight I am going to sit down and start stitching..

Until next time....

New Project

My local Fabric Shop Nellies Country Flair had an amazing sale with 40% off fabric and 30% off notions.

I initially visited the sale with Kylie and she helped me choose some spot fabric.

A few years ago the gorgeous Nat bought me Simple Pleasures from Hatched and Patched. So I  located the pattern and returned to the shop.

This is what we came up with....

This is the pattern.

The four patch block fabric.  I am going to make the with purple, blue, pink, orange and teal .

This fabric will be the triangles around the stitcheries.

The background for the four patches.

The small border, the triangles and the final border.

Now the test is to work out the thread I will use for the stitchery.

Wish me luck.  I am a little excited...

Until next time...
