Purse kit

Today I had a day home.

After lunch I finished sewing together  the hexagons.

I sewed the pieces together on the machine.
Tonight I am attaching the frame. I have stitched it together so I can sew the frame onto the purse.

Purse is all finished. My purse looks like it has wings. Much bigger than hat if the pattern. I may not have sewed the pleat enough.

I am happy to have another finish for the month.
That is a total of two. Yay.

my good friend Michelle from http://daisyhillquilts.blogspot.com.au

Is the best at making these purses. You should go check her out. I messaged her and she helped me out.

I know.....

I should have worked on my essay, I am expecting my sister-in-law (ex husbands sister in law) on Thursday night and needed to get some work done around the house.

Today's weather was incredible. I had the house all open it was so warm.

In the afternoon I took out the small purse pattern I got from the craft fair last weekend.  I decided I was  going to make the purse and started gluing hexagon papers to fabrics

I am using my French General fabrics. I know that would surprise you!

I have begun joining these together.

I also went shopping and bought a gorgeous bee button. Now my purse is all finished. Mmmm what am I going to use it for? It is a great size for a project. Now off to find one.

Flowers

Tonight I sewn some flower buttons on my purse. Need to head down the street tomorrow to buy some bee buttons. I think the hive would look better with it.
I am not sure if I need to press studs or a button and chain to hold down the flap. Have to think quick. Any ideas???

Binding

All the stitching is complete for the purse front. I am loving the look of the chain stitch.

Tonight I have attached the lining and the binding.

All I have left to do is see down the binding and add the flower buttons. I guess I should have added those prior to the liking. Oh well lesson learnt for next time.

Home again. Not for long....

My trip home from Broken Hill NSW was much calmer then on Wednesday. I was at the airport in plenty of time.
My girls were happy to see me which was great.
Monday I am heading down south to the town of Deniliquin in NSW for one night.

This morning I washed the work car and filled it up with petrol before heading over to the soccer grounds to watch Bridie. I also managed to stop in at the local Patchwork shop to give a hand in block organization. I don't think I was much help but I moved blocks around!

Bridie had a great game today and will back it up again with a carnival day.

Tonight I have been stitching my bee hive and branches for my purse. I have also been talking via text with two much loved friends, Michelle and Kylie.

Have a look at my pics they will be all over the place but I am sure you can still enjoy them.

OPAM and Summer where have you gone???

My first month complete as part of OPAM . I managed to get some things finished.

This month I am hoping to finsh my 'Tis the Season' quilt and sew the binding on my Gardener's Journal quilt (it has been sitting in the box waiting for me.. I think I have been called.)

If you didn't know when the seasons were one would assume summer has not arrived yet.  This was the first summer I didn't venture in to a pool.  Just wasn't hot enough!

Over the last few days we have had 15mm.  The rain has been incredible.

I have been attending a course these past two days with two more to go.  I am loving the resource that we have been working on, First Steps in Maths.  This will be great for teachers in the classroom.

No sewing tonight, have to get motivated again. The fete is approaching rapidly and I still have sewing to do...

Until next time.. happy stitching..

Fun filled weekend & Fete ideas

Friday at work I had a mishap with a mat and my high heel shoe.  I was talking to one of hte lovely ladies downstairs and stepped back but didn't lift my foot.  Well down I went, it was like slow motion as I attempted to correct my posture.  I attempted to grab at the desk and found lots of loose folders which didn't help me at all.  Down I went!! When I went back upstairs I was telling the girls in the office and had some others rushing in thinking I was dreadly upset, not laughing.  My lovely boss was on the phone to as it happen the principal at the school I used to teach at (I only know this as when the call came through - one which brightens everyone's day - I was there!)  she just didn't know what was happening.  Anyway all was well until Saturday when I was very sleepy and very sore!  Lucky I got to sew on Friday night as Saturday was a washout!

It is amazing how the technology we have available brings people together easily.

Technology brought together three of my very dear friends on Friday night.  When I moved last year my friend Kylie suggested we unite and she hatched a friendship challenge to make each other a quilt using the Depression block.

On Friday night we decided we would devote the night to making more blocks, well I constructed more blocks while Kylie chain pieced to make a start on the blocks.
What was even more special that Michelle was also sewing during the night.  Being quilt good friends regular updates were made via text messaging.  Just reaffirms the friendships we have made through the craft of Patchwork.  Here are the two blocks I put together...

I was also able to complete a couple of projects....

Purses.  Something I was really hesistant to complete but with Michelle's encouragement I have complete two.

I gave the smaller one to a gorgeous lady I work with for her happy birthday.  She said she would have to hide it from her daughter when she came home from Sydney!  Now that's a complement.

I was also asked by Kath from work to make a drawstring back for her daughter, Bridie, for her ballet shoes.  I forgot to take a picture of the finished article but here it is without the lining and cord.

Bridie loved the bag when I gave it to her.  I am kicking myself that I didn't take a completed picture.  The bears up the top form the casing for the cord...

A note came home from Bridie's school on Friday announcing there is going to be a craft staff at the fete and anyone with craft skills can make things for it.
Now I am after ideas that don't take too long to make to give to the fete.  All ideas welcome!

Until next time.... Happy Sewing....
